Yes, yes you read the title correctly.

Allow me to reiterate; HTC has signed a 3 year contract with Alphabet to create Google Nexus phones for the next 3 years!

Rumor mills have been churning the news that HTC would be making the upcoming Nexus device(s). When LG announced that it is stepping down from Nexus program, it just added more fuel to the fire. Little did we know, HTC would end up signing a contract with Alphabet for making Nexus devices for the next 3 years!

That’s no joke! It’s like spanning across 3 revisions of Android: N,O & P! Considering HTC was the first OEM to build the first ever Android smartphone or Nexus smartphone for that matter and has also partnered with Google in past for the Nexus 9, it’s not a surprise that Alphabet signed a contract to handle all Nexus OEM work to HTC.

Last year, LG and Huawei stepped up as the OEMs for the 2015 Nexus devices: Nexus 5X and 6P respectively. Google I/O 2016 will be held in the near future and they’ll be showcasing the newest, sweetest Android ever, aptly named Android N (Nutella? Nankhatai? Possibilities are endless!). Post that, the new Nexus devices will be showcased in the second half of the year.

So, what do you think? WIll HTC be able to infuse their awesome tech into Nexus devices and live upto the expectations? Let us know in the comments section down below. 🙂
